Legislation

Representative Weiers has committed to drafting a Bill to the next legislative session in 2009. He will become the prime sponsor of this new bill on Behalf of our Organization and all Veterans in our State of Arizona. The purpose of the new bill is replicate our current Federal Laws: PL 106-50, PL 108-183, PL 109, PL 110-183, Executive Order # 13360, and other direct and supportive laws. All these laws are there to provide SDVOB's and VOB's a minimum of 3% set-asides for Federal contracting and procurement, in addition to duplicating what our sister State of California and New Mexico have done at the State level. For other state laws in California go to elitesdvob.org.

To support Mr. Weier's endeavor, get as many organizations as possible to support his effort in writing so that their letters may be attached to the bill next year as supporting evidence to the legislature.

Help all veterans in our state to acquire this benefit that all of us have earned! We need to get Arizona to acknowledge what has already been provided to us by the Federal Government. This is history in the making if not a major milestone for our organization and all Veterans!

Rep Frank Schmuck is also supporting Rep. Weiers in sponsoring this bill requiring State, City and County projects to set aside a minimum of three percent of their contracts for SDVOB's.

Procurement

Stay in compliance with Executive Order 13360 by using our directory to locate and communicate with qualified SDVOB's. They're ready to bid and work on your project! While non-Federal projects have no law mandating a 3 percent minimum procurement to SDVOB's, our members are eager to be part of your supply chain.

Remember, many of our member businesses are owned by certified Service Disabled Veterans, veterans that volunteered to give their very lives in service to our country. Today, they are proud owners of highly qualified businesses in every trade and business category imaginable. Give them a shot at your project and you'll be glad you did.
